The Vision of Pasifika Gold Coast was birthed in 2010 and has grown into one of the Gold Coasts biggest Multi Cultural events.
That vision took shape in November 2011 when Founder Pule Tulisi & Festival Director Alec Palupe organised the very first PASIFIKA event in Coomera before moving it to Broad Beach State School in 2012.
The Aims of Pasifika Gold Coast is to showcase the cultures that exist on the Gold Coast & to showcase the gifts & Talents of our Pacific People.
The Event today brings Cohesion & positive outcomes in bringing all Pacific cultures together in one place to celebrate that diversity.
The very first Pasifika event was held at Upper Coomera State College & attracted over 5000 people over the day. The day was opened by Cr Donna Gates with the crowds entertained by various cultural groups,Hip Hop Crews and Bands from around the Gold Coast, with the ‘Head Liner’ act 3 Houses Down bringing the festival to a climax.
Broadbeach State School becomes the new home of Pasifika Gold Coast attracting around 10,000 people over the day. Guests included in the celebrations ‘Laughing with Samoans’ funny man Tofiga Fepulea’i, Popular NZ entertainer Lapi Mariner and big representation from the Cook Island, Samoan & Maori cultures.
Pasifika Gold Coast experiences a growth explosion when only in our 3rd year we have over 15,000 people attending. Officially opened by Mayor Tom Tate & Founder Pule Tulisi in a Sand ceremony mixing sand from NZ & Gold Coast to celebrate the coming together of 2 lands & many cultures on the Gold Coast. Guests included ALL BLACK Legend Jonah Lomu,Eroni Clarke and The Laughing with Samoans crew. 2013 was also supported by Leader of the house & Mermaid MP Ray Stevens,Broadbeach Cr Paul Taylor & Sponsors KooGa,Heinz & Kennards hire.
